IT Capability, Organisational Learning and Innovation Performance of Firms in Kenya

Abstract This paper explores the role that IT capability (IT-c) plays in firm innovation performance through channel of organisational learning (OL) Kenya. It frames OL two dimensions: explorative and exploitative OL. The former entails seeking new knowledge, which mainly exists outside firm’s competence. latter is an activity or process builds on existing competence knowledge firm. Using mediation analysis 481 firms drawn from World Bank Enterprise Survey (2013) Innovation Follow-up 2014, it demonstrates IT-c has a significant effect (capability to simultaneously improve products, processes, organising market development). finds mediative relationship between realised learning, whilst enabling exploit (in-house) base. puts forward some managerial, policy further research suggestions.
